There are many different fields in the realm of trade careers: plumber, electrician, welder, carpenter, mason, and more. Trades have field-specific schools and training courses. Many people in the trades are qualified to work in multiple areas.
Typically someone in the trades works about 40-60 hours a week. This number is generally consistent across the trades There are a few general steps that students have to complete to become a tradesperson.
Step 1: Obtain a High School Diploma
Step 2: Work as an Apprentice Under a Master
Step 3: Complete the trades school program(s) required for the field
Step 4: Apply and Qualify for State Credentials
An Undergraduate degree is not required, but can be helpful for some trades. State trade school courses are required, along with a certain number of hours worked in the field.
